How to choose the best baling wire supplier
Are you trying to choose a baling wire supplier? Don’t just look for the cheapest prices. Chinese baling wire, for example, is often cheaper than domestic, but it comes with plenty of downsides. Instead, look for a baling wire supplier that:
- Carries the products you need
- Produces high-quality baling wire
- Practices sustainability
- Provides superior customer support
If your mission is to save money on baling wire, find a supplier that sets you up for long-term operational efficiency. Baling Wire Direct is ready to be your new recycling or waste management partner.
We stock baling wire products for every job
Whether you have a low-volume cardboard baler or you operate an industrial recycling facility, we’ve got you covered.
Our products
- Single loop bale ties: Featuring a single hoop at one end, they are pre-cut to length and sold in packs. They are best for manual balers and small fence repairs.
- Double loop bale ties: Featuring a hoop at each end, they quickly hook together for fast tying.
- Black annealed wire: The most popular general baling wire for automatic horizontal or vertical balers, it has been heat treated for improved ductility and elongation. It features a wax coat for smooth baler feeding.
- Galvanized carrier wire: Commonly used for fencing and bales of recycled materials that are stored outdoors, it has been galvanized against rust and corrosion.
- High-tensile galvanized carrier wire: Beyond corrosion resistance, it is manufactured with high-carbon steel for improved tensile strength. It secures the heaviest, densest bales and functions as livestock fencing.
Our finishes
We produce products in three finishes so you can balance cost efficiency and performance:
- Bright (uncoated wire): Sold as double loop bale ties, bright baling wire is the most cost-effective. If your bales will be processed quickly, stored in a climate-controlled environment, or showcased in a client-facing environment, uncoated wire is the best choice.
- Black annealed: We sell annealed single loop bale ties, annealed box wire, and annealed carrier wire (stem wire). During the annealing process, wire is heated above its recrystallization temperature, allowing the formation of new, defect-free grains. Annealing improves wire’s elongation (to 25%) and ductility. Annealed wire is more corrosion resistant than bright bale wire and less expensive than galvanized wire.
- Galvanized: We sell galvanized single loop bale ties, galvanized double loop bale ties, and galvanized carrier wire. The hot-dip galvanizing process involves placing wire into a molten zinc bath. Once cooled, the resulting zinc coat acts as a sacrificial anode, corroding instead of the underlying steel. We offer two galvanization classes for customized protection. Class 1 galvanization is a basic zinc coating that offers one or two years of rust protection. Class 3 galvanization features a zinc coat four times thicker, providing 10+ years of corrosion resistance for long-term bale storage, outdoor fencing, or use in vineyards and orchards.
Box wire or stem wire
We sell galvanized wire, high-tensile galvanized wire, and black annealed wire by the stem. These large spools are 1,330 lb to 1,900 lb depending on the type of wire. Stem wire is the most cost-efficient choice for high-throughput automatic baling or fencing large areas.
We also sell black annealed wire by the box. 50 lb or 100 lb boxes are perfect for small fence repairs or low-volume automatic balers.

We manufacture high-quality baling wire products
Our mission is to create the world's best baling wire products. Here’s our wire production process:
- We begin by purchasing 100% American steel rods from select family-owned mills, complete with full metallurgical traceability specs.
- The raw materials arrive at our state-of-the-art factory where our team of over 120 trained technicians and five onsite engineers get to work.
- We use an innovative mechanical descaling technique to prepare the rods. This process reduces die wear and removes mill scale and surface rust, leaving behind a smooth wire surface.
- A heavy-duty, bull-block continuous wire machine draws the wire, narrowing it with increasing die gauges until the correct diameter is achieved. The inverse relationship between diameter and gauge means a higher gauge correlates to a smaller wire diameter.
- After the wire has been drawn to size, it is gently air-cooled to equalize tensile strength.
- The wire is cut to size.
We exercise rigorous protocols so our wire exceeds industry standards. We remove wire that doesn’t pass testing so our customers only receive high-quality wire products.
Baling Wire Direct is committed to sustainability
Our commitment to sustainability doesn’t just end with selling baling wire to recycling and waste management operations. We practice sustainable manufacturing through a mechanical descaling technique. This process allows us to avoid toxic chemicals other manufacturers use during descaling.
We also believe steel baling wire promotes sustainability as a product. Since steel is infinitely recyclable, steel baling wire is superior to plastic baling wire or poly baling twine. Not only do we think it’s important for other businesses to recycle used baling wire, but we do it ourselves. During manufacturing, baling wire that fails inspection is responsibly recycled and returned to the production chain.
